Any surface which has not previously been painted will require a primer. In most cases, previously painted foundation, walls or ceilings will also need a primer. We only use the finest primers from leading manufacturers. Surfaces must first be prepared, sanded & caulked before beginning the priming process.

In order to maximize adhesion of the finish coat of paint, promote uniformity, block stains & be resistant to mildew and corrosion; exterior primers are required. In the extreme whether of Colorado, out door surfaces sustain ample punishment. Unpainted wood, metal, previously painted trim, doors, and masonry, also stucco brick and other masonry all require specific priming for proper adhesion.

Stucco will normally crack from stress over time, these will need to be filled, Sprinklers also weaken stucco and cause weak areas that often end up with holes. We will fill all stress cracks all of the damaged areas before proceding on to prime the surface.

Exterior surfaces also need to be prepared & cleaned before primers & paints can be applied. Cracks & holes will need to be repaired; & some surfaces may need to be powerwashed. Concrete surfaces may need to be scraped & sanded if there is old flaking paint from a previous application.

For best results, Drywall must be completely free of texture, bumps, cracks, holes or voids. Walls that have texture must be skimmed, floated & smoothed. Everything about the walls which the wallcovering is to be applied must be structurally sound. This means that all moldings, trim, cornices and wood must meet the walls tightly with no gaps or spaces, then primed. Rooms must be cleared of debres and free of dust and dirt. There are many different types of wall coverings available for consumers today, some include PaperBacked Vinyls, Grass cloth, Hand-printed Wallpaper, Sheepskin, Felt, Fabric-backed Vinyl, Photo Murals, Textiles, Wood Veneer Laminate, Anaglypta, Leather, & cork to name a few. Each style has specific hanging instructions as well as compatible paste's and glues for propper adhesion.

Exterior concrete will normally require more than one coat of primer, & requires high grade special outdoor paint; these paints can withstand extreme wheather conditions and still keep their color tone without pealing and cracking. The process of applying the primers and paints must be planned around the wheather. The final coat of paint must sit for up to 30 days to completely cure. traffic on these areas before the paints have properly can be disasterous. Lacquer is applicable to raw wood, shellac, or a sealer made specifically as an undercoat for lacquer. Lacquer will not adhere to any polyurethane or varnish. You can normally find out right on the label of the product you are considering to find out whether you need a sealer. Lacquer is not messy, & dries quickly but is not as durable as polyurethane or varnish. Consider the ammount of traffic in the area and estimate how much abuse the piece you are finishing will be taking before deciding on a finish.

Texture is an art in itself. The proper consistancy of joint compound, and a hopper tool connected to a compressor with various size spray tips are used to create textures. Very common textures are Orange Peal, Knock down, & Popcorn.

From wear and tear or improper installation; wallcoverings sometimes require maintinence. Corners may come loose, there may be nicks or tears in the paper, or sheets may come down completely. Our workers are equiped and prepared to deal with any wallcovering repair that might be needed.
