Interior Surface Preparation & Repair

Interior Wall & Ceiling Priming

Any surface which has not previously been painted will require a primer. In most cases, previously painted foundation, walls or ceilings will also need a primer. Exterior Surface Priming Services

Exterior surfaces also need to be prepared & cleaned before primers & paints can be applied. Cracks & holes will need to be repaired; & some surfaces may need to be powerwashed. Concrete surfaces may need to be scraped & sanded if there is old flaking paint from a previous application.

Wallcovering Surface Preparation

For best results, Drywall must be completely free of texture, bumps, cracks, holes or voids. Walls that have texture must be skimmed, floated & smoothed. Everything about the walls which the wallcovering is to be applied must be structurally sound. This means that all moldings, trim, cornices and wood must meet the walls tightly with no gaps or spaces, then primed. Rooms must be cleared of debres and free of dust and dirt. There are many different types of wall coverings available for consumers today, some include PaperBacked Vinyls, Grass cloth, Hand-printed Wallpaper, Sheepskin, Felt, Fabric-backed Vinyl, Photo Murals, Textiles, Wood Veneer Laminate, Anaglypta, Leather, & cork to name a few. Each style has specific hanging instructions as well as compatible paste's and glues for propper adhesion.

Concrete Surface Painting

Lacqure Finishing Information

Lacquer is applicable to raw wood, shellac, or a sealer made specifically as an undercoat for lacquer. Lacquer will not adhere to any polyurethane or varnish. You can normally find out right on the label of the product you are considering to find out whether you need a sealer. Lacquer is not messy, & dries quickly but is not as durable as polyurethane or varnish. Consider the ammount of traffic in the area and estimate how much abuse the piece you are finishing will be taking before deciding on a finish.
